Today we collected our bees from their home a few miles north near Petersfield
We arrived at about 6.30pm and they were all in bed as it was a chilly blustery evening.
Discussing the plan and getting gloves on
Percy taping a sheet of glass over the holes in the crown board to prevent any escapees
A small strip of gaffer tape folded lengthwise onto itself covers the entrance then another long strip holds it in place
Nylon straps, parcel-wise hold the base, brood chamber and shallow super firmly in place.
Although we had a trolley with us as this colony is small and it is early in the season Percy was able to carry it to the car
Safely in the boot of our estate car and gently wedged in place with a cardboard box and an old duvet. Important to make sure the frames are hanging parallel to the car so they do not swing about too much in transit.
Looks like we've brought them to a concrete jungle but this is just the corner where the shed was and will take a while to green up but there is plenty of lushness around
A combination of our stand and roof with the Brood and Super from their past home.
Proud owners of our small colony; we hope they like what they see in the morning.
